Quick tip: Get Active Directory (AD) Domain and Forest functional level

Some days ago, both Mike F. Robbins and Shay Levy showed how to enumerate the FSMO roles in the current domain and forest with PowerShell:

Based on the same cmdlets and technique, you can also view the Forest and Domain functional level like this:

# Get the Forest functional level
(Get-ADForest).ForestMode

# Get the Domain functional level
(Get-ADDomain).DomainMode
# Get the Forest functional level
[System.DirectoryServices.ActiveDirectory.Forest]::GetCurrentForest() | Select *Mode*

 # Get the Domain functional level
[System.DirectoryServices.ActiveDirectory.Domain]::GetCurrentDomain() |Select *Mode*
